Germany

Being at the heart of Europe, Germany has a long and interesting history from the migrations of Germanic tribes to the European Union. In the 1500’s Martin Luther preached that "the just shall live by faith" and that all people could read the Bible and receive the Holy Spirit. These teachings began the Reformation and the birth of evangelical movements. Since 1949, Germany was divided into two separate nations: West and East. While West Germany flourished after the war, East Germany remained under tight communist control for 40 years. In 1990 the two nations joined back together.

The Movement Today

Approximately 50 Assemblies of God Missionaries and Missionary Associates work with the German Fellowship in the areas of church planting, family counseling, children’s ministry, evangelistic literature distribution, community outreaches, Teen Challenge, military churches and campus ministry. The German Fellowship reports 528 churches and outstations with nearly 50,000 members and adherents, and 840 ministers. Currently there is one Bible school with 70 students and 32 extension Bible schools with more than 500 students enrolled.
